Ed Gayton Suffering From Horseblinderitis
Doctors at the Treasure Island Institute have examined Treasure Island Commissioner Ed Gayton and have discovered Commissioner Gayton is suffering from the rare disease Horseblinderitis.
Horseblinderitis was first discovered to be affecting Treasure Island Commission members when observers realized the Commission Members seemed to have lost the ability to see what was happening to community unless something was specifically pointed out to them by certain residents of Sunset Beach.
In Commissioner Gayton's case, his affliction was first noted when he appeared to have lost the abilty to see anything that was happening in his district and specifically on the very street he lives on. While law abiding neighbors continually complained about numerous code violations on Isle of Palms' 5th Street, Commissioner Gayton went on with his daily routine totally oblivious to the lawlessness that was taking place in his very presence.
Last year T I Beach Bums sent our T I Beach Bums on No Ones Side Investigative Team to 5th Street on the Isle of Palms after we had received numerous reports of code violations on the very street the Commissioner resides. Our team found and documented many violations on the Commissioner's street. Several of the violations were at homes the Commissioner had to drive past when driving from and returning to his home. At the time of that investigation we questioned how an elected offical could ignore such goings on.
During the past year, T I Beach Bums continuned to receive complaints from residents on 5th Street of the continuing problem of code violations such has boats and boat trailers being parked in plain view on residential lots and nothing being done by either Commissioner Gayton or the City of Treasure Island.
Even more disconcerting was the fact that Commissioner Gayton advised during televised Commission meetings that he had driven around the Isle of Palms as if he was actually doing his job and monitoring what was happening in his district. Yet, during these supposed tours, Commissioner Gayton did not observe even one of the numerous code violations taking place at the homes on the streets he claimed he was visiting.
It has now become clear, at least to everyone else, why Commissioner Gayton did not see any of the code violations that were taking place in his district. He couldn't see them because Commissioner Gayton was suffering from the malady Horseblinderitis. We apologize to Commissioner Gayton for our questioning the lack of his involvement in the enforcement of the City's codes. Had we realized that Ed was suffering from Horseblinderitis we would have suggested Ed seek immediate attention and find a cure for his ailment.
In the meantime, the City of Treasure Island is taking the horse by the blinders, so to speak, and will begin to enforce the City's codes on Isle of Palms. The City Manager reported that there were 19 boat trailer code violations on Isle of Palms. We suggest that City workers bring plenty of code violation citations with them when they visit Ed's street.
