Bicycle Unsafety

Now don’t get me wrong. I’ve got nothing against bicycles. I’ve had a bicycle since I was old enough and strong enough to pick myself up from the pavement after I had run into something larger and heavier than I was.

No Parking

The folks on Sunset Beach are having a problem with beach visitors parking their cars all over the neighborhood, blocking driveways, streets and fire hydrants. One proposal is to issue resident only parking passes and littering the landscape with all sorts of “No Parking” signs in an effort to keep visiting beach goers, mostly young and mostly driving over amplified compact cars, from parking in the front yards of Sunset Beach residents.

Pay Phones

I was standing in line the other day waiting on some poor guy who was being badly embarrassed by an automatic teller machine when another guy walked up to me and asked where the nearest pay phone was located. I stood there silently for a couple of seconds trying to comprehend exactly what this guy was asking.

Half Of Blind Pass To Become Boating Raceway

Responding to citizen complaints The City of St. Pete Beach has recently passed a new ordinance that will make Blind Pass a full time minimum wake zone. The intent of the ordinance is to slow boating traffic along Blind Pass for safety reasons and also to prevent further damage to homeowner's sea walls. Sea walls can suffer damage over the long term from the wake caused by speeding boats.
